“Dontaye, I loved your remarks this morning about stories and humanity. Because I don’t really think we can talk about criminal justice without talking about the very real the humanity of the people are instincts tell us to despise the most.”
Jon Rapping, President/Founder of Gideon Promise, Inc.
As a Public Relations expert, one of the things I have learned over the years is that we must equip people with the information to share our talents with the world. Last month, I was afforded the opportunity to speak at the Advocacy for Action Empowerment Summit 2018. After my speech, Jonathan Rapping joined a panel to discuss criminal justice reform.
Rapping leads a non-profit organization that is one of the national leaders for criminal justice reform. They’re focused on people in the system who are overwhelmingly poor and disproportionately minorities. When I spoke about creating authentic stories that connect you to your listeners in a way that drives growth, he understood I was talking about sharing the stories about how we positively impact people’s lives.
Without sharing these stories, it doesn’t matter what we achieve, if we are not impacting people’s lives. I spoke to the heart of how Rapping is working to change criminal justice. In doing so, I found someone willing to speak about my abilities to help them make a difference.
